Tree Felling & Removal

We cover all aspects of tree felling, ariel dismantling and removal across the Central Belt. We can arrange your Tree Protection Order (TPO), Conservation Area and Felling Licence compliance so everything is taken care of for you, with the ability to fell trees of all types in all locations, from roadside and back garden trees to windblown and diseased trees.

Specialising in large, awkward tree felling and removal, we can provide traffic control measures, elevating work platforms and timber handling machinery.

We also offer to plant trees in place of ones which have been removed. Helping you reinvest in the local treescape. In some cases, we can mill the tree’s stem, on or off site, so the tree can go on to live a second life as a piece of timber with sentimental value and provenance.

Tree Removal

There are two main ways of removing a tree and it depends on the size and location of the tree and its proximity to buildings, greenhouses or roads.

Clear Felling

Clear Felling is where tree is cut at the base and it falls over (this is where you’d see them shout Timber!!!! in films). Obviously it’s slightly more complicated than that and we often use ropes or wedges to guide it in a particular direction.

This technique is only used when safe to do so. The majority of our work involves Sectional Felling.

Sectional Felling

Sectional Felling where we climb the tree, remove branches by cutting and lowering to the ground before cutting main tree trunk into sections and also carefully lowering to the ground. Sectional Felling requires either rope work or a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP). Think cherry picker or a crane. We prefer the MEWP as none of us are getting any younger 🙂

All work is carried out to the British Standard for Tree Work (BS 3998). Arisings such as woodchip, logs and other tree debris can be removed from site or alternatively we can leave them for you to use at home or within your business.
