Scottish Hardwood Sales

As a full member of the Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers (ASHS), we are passionate about saving non forest and hardwood trees at the end of their lifecycle from becoming a ‘waste product’. This is why we sell Scottish hardwood. Often their stems are cut for firewood, chipped for biomass or they get left to rot whilst we import timber from abroad in vast quantities.

Our solution was to come up with ‘Tree Salvage’, which is our brand that creates and sells our unique wood products from trees which O.T.T. and other local tree contractors have felled.

Tree Salvage creates sustainable wood products, from trees not felled for their timber value, which boast a unique, traceable provenance and are in danger of their potential as quality wood products not being realised.

We contacted Andy earlier this year regarding a fallen tree on our property. The tree was of a significant size, and we knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge to deal with. Andy initially came out to assess the situation and discuss the job. He then arranged everything at times that suited us, and the team removed the tree and tidied everything up in under a day. The wood was then milled and delivered by Andy and Raymond, and again, everything was completed within a day. We couldn't have been happier with the service. As a holiday lodge business, having the work arranged and completed in such an efficient manner was essential and very much appreciated. We would highly recommend O'Neill Trees and Timber, and will be in touch again soon for more jobs that need tackling. Thanks for a superb job!

I have used O’Neill Trees & Timber on a number of occasions and they have always provided an excellent service. Andy, who runs the company has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. He will listen carefully to what needs done and offer useful advice. Each job has been carried to a very high standard. I would not hesitate to use this company again and would highly recommend them to others.

Delighted with the whole experience as well as end result. Andy and team, who came highly recommended by a friend, were professional and pleasant. They dealt with a hedge and tree on the property sensitively and with clear regard for wildlife. Communication was clear and I just really enjoy looking out the window now and being in the space.

Very happy with the work carried out by Andy and his team - very professional and knowledgeable, and worked through some very difficult weather conditions. Would have no hesitation in using them to maintain my trees going forward.

It was a pleasure to deal with Andy and the team - from quote to completion. Great professional job from the friendliest forester in town! Thoroughly recommended.

We own a small strip of woodland at the side of our property and Andy and his team spent last week with us to begin sorting it out. By way of background, the woodland is very well established with a significant number of different trees. But unfortunately, it had been the subject of massive neglect over multiple decades! It demonstrated very poor minimal efforts at "do it yourself" pruning with several seriously dangerous lumps of dead massive tree trunks littered over the ground and up in the canopy. The site was a walking disaster zone and a definite liability to the attractiveness of the property as a whole. Although Andy and his colleagues did not manage to get everything done that was on the list they actually achieved more than I was expecting, which was a very pleasant surprise and particularly so as "the list" kept changing as they found new and unexpected challenges! The team have already made a phenomenal difference to the ground throughout the woods. All the dangerous stuff is gone and, from the large volume of dead trunks and limbs that they had accumulated through the week, they have innovatively constructed an attractive dead hedge on the property edge that is an excellent wildlife resource. Whereas this is, of course, very pleasing from my perspective, my reason for writing this testimonial is to praise their clear strong work ethic (as would be expected in Scotland in November it rained most of the week but this did not stop them at all!), excellent customer skills, flexibility to respond positively to my, hopefully, not-too-stupid requests for specific things to be done and, finally and most importantly, their communication. In particular, I want to applaud Andy in this last regard. Every morning I would go out and spend about half an hour with him walking through what had been done the previous day and what was on that day's list. During this time he always responded in a very courteous and friendly manner to my frequent, probably ill informed, questions. Andy is obviously an expert in his sphere of work and I was delighted with his openness and the willingness in which he shared his knowledge and skills with me. I am very much looking forward to seeing Andy and the boys back next February to get the second half of the woodland in order!

Andy and his wonderful team recently removed a very large Birch tree in our rather space challenged front garden. It was extremely challenging due to the large amount of plants we have in the garden. The work was carried out to a high professional standard with obvious care shown for our property and his staff. The site was left clean and tidy and we felt happy with all aspects of the service given and the price charged.

Excellent job! Andy was knowledgeable, friendly and knew what he was doing. Came and made right a poor job that had been done by another company. We're really grateful and looking forward to them keeping our trees looking good from now on.

Tree Salvage strives to:

Break the waste creation cycle, realise end of life non-forest trees as a resource for the creation of sustainable wood products with provenance & significant carbon capture.

Provenance is the difference between our ethical, fully traceable, low carbon footprint timber and most other wood products, which is why we can tell you:

  • Where the tree grew
  • When the tree was felled
  • Why the tree was felled
  • When the tree was milled
  • When the milled wood was dried.

Try that in a big box store!

Our own Kiln Drying facilities and dry storage at our premises, ensures we create high quality, as well as unique timber products. We are proud to create live edge slabs, waney edge wood and dimensional hardwood timber, from local trees, with the intention of them being turned into heirloom quality wood products, locking up CO2 and making people smile.

Our range of salvaged wood is available to view at our premises in Falkirk by appointment only. Please get in touch to arrange a time to visit!
