Within Central Scotland lies a fantastic array of woodlands, from majestic mature and alluring ancient to neglected and overstood. From small-scale and coppice to vast commercial softwood plantations, each requires a specialist approach to its management.
OTS has the skills, qualifications, and specialist knowledge to allow us to conduct a whole range of forest operations from:
- Tree planting
- Felling - Small to large trees, winch assisted, windblown trees, roadside trees requiring traffic management, dead/decaying and diseased trees & emergency call out tree works
- Thinning - Selective thinning for biodiversity and woodland improvement
- Mobile saw milling - Turning trees into timber at your location or ours. Slabs can be cut up to 1400mm wide and dimensional timber can be cut up to 600mm x 600mm
- Low impact small scale forwarding – Ideal for sensitive sites or sites with poor access
- Large, high value stem extraction for secondary processing such as milling
From small & low impact to full-scale equipment, we can provide a vast range of woodland and forestry services. Our extensive range of specialist forestry equipment includes a low impact ‘Alpine’ tractor and forwarding trailer as well as a more conventional fully forestry guarded Valtra tractor with loader and powerful hydraulic winch which allows us to implement planned or reactive maintenance and improvement programmes with minimal disturbance.
Combining our woodland and forestry skills with our countryside management capabilities, OTS is uniquely positioned to offer a turnkey service eliminating the requirement for engaging multiple contractors. We also have an extensive network of subcontractors who can supply a range of additional forestry machinery and services to complement our inhouse fleet.
